Rotarians at their marshals' briefing

Rotarians at their marshals’ briefing

On Friday 1st December 2017 at around 5pm  Rotarians will turn out to assist in the marshalling of this event. As usual we are expecting an enthusiastic crowd attending switch-on of the lights in St Peter’s Square in Emsworth by the Mayor of Havant, Councillor Elaine Shimbart with her consort Councillor Gerald Shimbart.

Carol singing in the squareWe will be handing out song-sheets for the families who gather to join in with the carol singing led by children from local schools, and there will be a triumphal appearance of Santa’s Sleigh as the switch-on took place. The sleigh then processes down to the Quay, where Santa will be called upon to switch on the lights on the Lobster Pot Tree on the Quay-side before he retires to his Grotto to greet the children who have queued patiently in the cold. Mulled wine and hot-dogs will be available to keep everyone warm and fed. Havant Rotary Club supply the fabulous sleigh as they do every year.
