Every year we invite older people who are practically housebound to a drive out in the countryside and an afternoon tea at a garden centre or tea room. This year it was held on Wednesday 11th October. The rain cleared on what started out as a very unpromising day just in time for a lovely relaxing drive in the autumnal Hampshire countryside. With Havant Inner Wheel, our sister Club doing the same, we took a group of individuals to Stansted, and had a lovely cream tea in the Blossom Cafe in the Garden Centre. This was an excellent opportunity for some to do a bit of early Christmas shopping! All invited guests were given a potted plant from the garden centre to take home.
If you know of someone who is able-bodied but lacks transport, lonely and in need of a bit of companionship, whom you think might benefit from a free afternoon out to brighten up their week and perhaps make new friends, why not contact us and pass on their details. We will be glad to consider them for our Drive Out. Just use the Nomination form.
